SOD IS PERISHABLE!
Sod must be installed within 24 -48 hours of delivery.
The key to establishing new sod is to keep it properly watered for the first month. Water your lawn in the evening and early morning when less evaporation occurs. Allow your lawn to be watered early and dry throughout the day, then water again in the evening if the sod is not soggy.
Here is a favorable guideline to follow:
Week 1 & 2: Immediately after installing sod, water thoroughly. The new sod should be kept thoroughly wet to a depth of 4" to 6" and watered 2 to 3 times a day during the first 7 to 14 days. It is very important to keep the new sod damp. During hot weather, sprinklers should run several times a day so the new sod never dries out. If allowed to dry out, the sod will shrink, brown, and can die. The roots of your new sod will penetrate the soil faster and root down sooner if properly watered. Expect your sod to be rooted after week 2.
Week 3: Reduce watering to 1-2 times per day and skip a day between watering if the new sod is not drying out.
Week 4: Water 1 to 2 times EVERY OTHER day.
After week 4: Allow 2 to 3 days between watering. By week 4, carefully mow your new lawn- no lower than 2 inches.
NOTE: We do not guarantee our sod once it leaves the farm. Sod requires maintenance once it becomes an established lawn. We can recommend a local landscaper if you need assistance with upkeep.
